Don't forget the things you have seen: The Best of Cheyenne Season One
I've been wrestling with the idea of writing a series of blog posts about the Cheyenne series, in particular incorporating a gimmick...something along the lines of a list of "best of" or "what to watch". I suppose it's entirely impossible not to do some qualitative ranking when scribing a blog of this type. And all such rankings would be completely arbitrary and based on my own personal tastes, which could differ greatly from other viewers based on their own rankings. But why not?
My personal favorites from Season One (in no particular order) are:
Mountain Fortress - Why? Where it all began
The Travelers - Why? Fantastic character arc
Fury at Rio Hondo - Why? Spicy romance and…

What are my priorities?
In creating content for this wiki, what are my priorities as a contributor?
- Episode synopses - The 108 episodes of the show are the heart and soul of the wiki. Getting these articles up and filled with content is the mammoth part of the work. Finding out episode trivia is the holy grail of this process, but sources seem slim.
- Character articles - Obviously these come next. I’m prioritizing characters with speaking roles, or those who are central to plots in some way. I could care less about non-speaking parts. The very idea of that exhausts me, except for the animal parts which are just fun to do. Can some completist somewhere help me out?
- Actors articles - I do not foresee creating an article for every actor that ever appeared in an episode…

In appreciation of The Travelers
One of the highlight episodes in Cheyenne Season One for me is the tight ensemble story titled The Travelers. True to several scripts in the series, this story was originally a film “Along the Great Divide”, starring Kirk Douglas and Virginia Mayo from 1951. (I have not seen this movie. I’m hoping to view it soon. Finding it is the issue.)
However, the fact the script is second-hand doesn’t diminish the storytelling quality of the hour-long translation for television. The script and pacing in this episode are tight and fast. No fluff dialog. The characters are solid, and Nature has a role to play in this episode, as it should in any quality Western story.
There is the popular argument out there that the archetypal “good guy” character is borin…

100 pages. Whew!
I am happy to announce that the Cheyenne Wiki reached 100 articles today. It's been a long, grueling summer slaving away at my computer, watching DVDs and taking screencaps.
Has it all been worth it? Definitely.
